Dropping Blood Pressure to a Health Level – The Best Music for Your Heart

Swedish pop group Abba is still amazingly popular after nearly 50 years, thanks in part to the success of 2008’s movie Mamma Mia!

But do the Swedish supergroup’s songs have the best beat for a healthy heart?

The answer will surprise you.

A study from Germany has the answer. It was published in the journal Deutsches Arzteblatt International. Now, admittedly it was only a small study, but it’s worth taking seriously because it stands on the shoulders of giants. It’s just the latest in a long line of research that proves how good music is for your physical health.

For this study, the researchers split 120 people into two groups (all of them with good hearts and no blood pressure problems, half under 50 and half over 50 years of age). One group listened to music for 25 minutes per session and half got to lie down in silence.

The music group was split into three smaller groups. One got to enjoy Mozart’s Symphony No 40 in g minor, one got to wave an imaginary bat on to Johann Strauss, and one got to mime along (presumably) to a selection of Abba hits.

The results were interesting:

  • Mozart lowered systolic blood pressure by 4.7 mmHg, Strauss by 3.7 mmHg, and Abba by virtually nothing. (Sorry Abba fans.)
  • Mozart lowered diastolic blood pressure by 2.1 mmHg, Strauss by 2.9 mmHg, and Abba had little effect again. (Mamma Mia! Another surprise.)
  • The group that rested in silence got some benefit, but not as much as the music group.
  • The Mozart and Strauss listeners had lower heart rates than the others, and they dropped them by 5.6 beats per minute (BPM) (Mozart), and 4.7 BPM (Strauss).
  • Mozart and Strauss were also good at lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol (especially in men). As cortisol raises blood pressure, this is also good news.

It’s interesting to note that what the people in the study normally chose to listen to didn’t affect their results. That’s important because it means that even if you don’t enjoy classical music it can still help your heart.

So why was the classical music better for blood pressure?

As different as you might think classical and pop songs are, the scientists noted that all three still had aspects to them that were repetitive and catchy, so they think that lyrics might make all the difference.

Previous research has shown that having any lyrics in a song gives our brains more work to do, so even nice, happy lyrics take some cognitive effort to process. For maximum peace of mind (and lower blood pressure) you’re better off listening to happy music with no words at all.

So, if you suffer from high blood pressure, maybe you should buy Abba’s entire back catalogue for karaoke and just listen to the instrumental tracks without singing along?

Maybe you don’t have a karaoke machine? If that’s the case then you could just try these 3 easy blood pressure exercises for dropping blood pressure to a healthy level instead…

Dropping Blood Pressure to a Health Level – This Healthy Vegetable Causes High Blood Pressure

Most advice about avoiding high blood pressure involves eating more fruits and vegetables, but now there’s some confusion about one vegetable that a lot of people eat.

A new study from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School points the finger at this vegetable and accuses it of potentially doing more harm than good.

And to muddy the waters even more, they also found that one of the least healthy ways of preparing this vegetable DIDN’T seem to raise blood pressure.

The authors already knew that people who took potassium supplements had lower blood pressure than their peers did. They also knew that high glycemic carbohydrates (like potatoes) can increase blood pressure.

As potatoes are full of potassium (which can lower blood pressure) and high glycemic carbohydrates (which can raise blood pressure), they were curious about which one would win this tug of war.

So, they looked back over 3 previous studies that tracked 187,453 people. They knew their potato intakes, and which of them had hypertension.

They found that people who ate less than one portion of potatoes per month had the lowest risk, while those who ate four or more portions per week had the highest risk.

It didn’t matter if they smoked or not, were obese or not, or did exercise or not. The results were still the same. And what they ate and drank didn’t seem to make any difference either. They could have been drinkers or abstainers, vegetarians or meat eaters. In all cases, more potatoes meant higher blood pressure.

But here’s a couple of odd things…

  1. Four or more weekly servings of baked, boiled, or mashed potatoes increased the blood pressure risk for women, but not for men.
  2. French fries increased everyone’s risk, but potato chips didn’t. Which seems weird considering that they’re virtually the same thing. Both are deep-fried and both are salty.

It would be nice to think that we can all eat potato chips every day without suffering any health problems, but let’s hold back until the scientists can get to the bottom of what’s going on with this strange result.

There’s obviously more work to be done in figuring out exactly what’s going on, because something clearly is.

Until that happens, try and stay at three or fewer portions of potatoes per week (including potato chips) just to be on the safe side.

And you could also try our excellent blood pressure lowering exercises for dropping blood pressure to a healthy level. They’ve been shown to cut blood pressure to below 120/80 – no matter how many potatoes you like to eat…

Dropping Blood Pressure to a Health Level – Go Green and Avoid High Blood Pressure

Do you get bored by the usual blood pressure advice?

It’s often about doing more exercise and watching what you eat, and after a while it can get pretty monotonous.

Thankfully there’s a new Australian study that doesn’t involve either of those things. It just suggests that you should try doing something which is fun, free and easy (depending on where you live).

In June 2016, Australian researchers surveyed 1,538 Brisbane residents to find out whether the amount of time which humans spend in green spaces could be good for their overall health.

They found that people who spent at least half an hour in an urban forest or park once a week were less likely to suffer from high blood pressure than people who didn’t. They also noticed that the more time they spent outdoors, the greater the health benefits.

For every hundred park visitors there were nine fewer cases of high blood pressure compared to their peers who stayed away.

These benefits were the same for everyone, regardless of their body mass index, age, gender, income, and education.

The people who spent the longest time in green spaces had the lowest blood pressure risks, and it didn’t even matter whether they lived near simple urban parks or dense forests, they still got the benefits. It seems that as far as your heart is concerned, even a little bit of green is good for you.

A walk in your local park is just as healthy as a hike in a rainforest.

And there were other benefits too. Park-goers had fewer instances of depression, more community spirit and more positive behaviors in general. It looks like they were right when they called it “the great outdoors”.

But, a word of warning. You won’t get all of the good effects if you walk about wearing earphones and staring at your phone with your head down. You have to experience green spaces with all your senses to get the most out of them. Otherwise, you might as well stay at home.

Drop Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 as soon as Today – A Hidden Clue to High Blood Pressure in Men

A new Italian study has shown how focusing on a rather unconventional body measurement may help men to anticipate high blood pressure risks.

And it’s probably not the body part you think it is.

The researchers looked at data on nearly 3,000 men who had sought treatment for sexual dysfunction. They began to notice that a link between those who were most likely to suffer from high blood pressure and heart disease, and this particular measurement.

It turns out that bigger testicles meant a greater likelihood of hypertension and heart disease! So, this is one instance where having extra cojones was not an advantage, except in the sense that it was offering men a rather stark warning.

It’s quite lucky that this measurement was part of the study, because otherwise it might have been missed. Another included measurement was for something called Luteinizing Hormone, which affects testosterone production.

Men with more LH had the largest testicles and the highest blood pressure.

It’s certainly an interesting finding, but further study is definitely needed.

Until they can shed more light on the subject, it’s best to keep your blood pressure within acceptable limits. Luckily, you can do this naturally and easily with these three simple blood pressure exercises to drop your blood pressure below 120/80 as soon as today…

And here’s how you can help erectile dysfunction too, without resorting to drugs or painful procedures…

Drop Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 as soon as Today – These Berries Fix Your Blood Pressure!

In old movies, Roman emperors always seemed to be reclining on a long couch, so that some servant could feed them these delicious little fruits, one by one.

Back in the day, the Romans knew a thing or two about building straight roads, aqueducts, indoor plumbing, and conquering half of the known world, so they probably knew a thing or two about this still-popular fruit as well.

You can still find it at the grocery store in a variety of colors, flavors and shapes, and it can help to conquer high blood pressure quicker than a Roman legion conquers a barbarian horde.

Grapes! That’s what we’re talking about. They are still as tasty and portable as ever, and they even go nicely with a chunk of brie on a sandwich, which is something you can’t say about any other medicine.

Medicine?

Well, you can think of them as a nice fruit if you want to, but the fact that they can help lower your blood pressure, along with bestowing a few other health benefits too means that they’re more than just a juicy snack.

They’re good for you, and the National Health and Nutrition study found that it doesn’t even matter which ones you choose. It turns out that grapes of all shapes and colors have amazing nutritional properties.

They are packed with potassium, vitamins A and C, vitamin B6, fiber, and calcium, which is probably why the study showed that people who eat grapes, or raisins or who drink fresh grape juice have better overall health than those who don’t.

It’s the antioxidants in grapes – called polyphenols – that really pack the biggest punch. They are great at keeping fat at bay in the body, your arteries clear and your blood pressure low.

Of course, if everything else in your diet is terrible then don’t expect grapes to magically make up for that, but if you do like grapes then the chances are that you will make better overall food choices anyway.

We can say this because the study found that people who were regular grape eaters were also more likely to choose other nutritionally healthy foods. So, why not try a few grapes today and you might find that you’re eating better overall as well?

Drop Your Blood Pressure Below 120/80 as soon as Today – High Blood Pressure? Eat this Vegetable

Researchers from the Wageningen University in the Netherlands have spent 10 years looking at the diets of 20,000 men and women.

They paid a lot of attention to the fruits and vegetables that these people are the most of, so you can bet they know what’s good for you!

In a novel twist, the researchers grouped all the fruits and vegetables that people were eating by color, because they wanted to find out if some shades of fruit and veg might be more beneficial to heart health than others. The way they group them was white, red/purple, green, and orange/yellow.

Whoever thought of doing it this way was a bit of a genius, because they discovered at the end of the study that fruits and vegetables that are rich in orange and yellow shades gave the best improvements in cardiovascular health.

They also found that the most effective vegetable out of all the oranges and yellows was the humble carrot. It turned out that people who ate carrots more frequently had a 35% lower chance of developing things like high blood pressure.

Scientists put these benefits down to the unique antioxidants like beta carotene found in carrots, not to mention vitamins K, C, B6, B1, and B2, and minerals like calcium and potassium, along with phytonutrients called polyacetylenes. Two of the major ones found in carrots, called falcarinol and falcarindiol have an amazing ability to improve heart health and lower blood pressure.

Now, before you start filling your cheeks with carrots – don’t bother, because there’s really no need to go overboard. Research showed that it wasn’t the amount of carrots eaten that mattered, it was the frequency.

Little and often was the key You only need 25 grams a day, which is like one medium-sized carrot to give your heart what it needs. Just make sure that you get that much every day.

One thing to note though, they’re better for you when they’re raw. Boiling carrots leaches out many of those wonderful nutrients. But if you can’t face crunching on uncooked carrots, then try steaming them instead. That will preserve more of the good stuff that keeps your heart happy.

Reduce Your High Blood Pressure Naturally, Right Now – High Blood Pressure Cured by This Vampire

Wouldn’t it be great if a vampire could cure your high blood pressure? Dracula would probably tell you that he could do it in the blink of an eye, and we believe him. One bite and your blood pressure would be history! (Although, to be honest, so would you…)

But seriously, scientists have been studying vampires recently, because in the quest to find effective treatments for people who suffer from high blood pressure and heart disease, they will leave no (tomb)stone unturned.

Scientists from the University of Queensland in Australia believe that a breed of modern-day vampires may actually hold the key to curing high blood pressure.

Their research was recently published in the Journal of Proteomics and it shows that the venom secreted by vampire bats may hold the key to lowering blood pressure and dissolving blood clots in humans.

Their piece outlines how the bats have adapted to beat their prey’s adaptations to them. Which sounds surprising but shouldn’t, because all life adapts to survive over time, and some of the creatures that vampire bats feed on have developed antibodies which neutralise their venom.

But this is an arms race conducted in the laboratory of life, and in time, the bats have upped their own game and developed venom which wins against the antibodies.

In a typical vampire bat attack, when venom enters the body of a victim, the creature’s immune system kicks in and destroys the invader. Blood then clots at the site of the wound and inflammation from white blood cell activity cleans everything up.

This is bad news for the vampire bats, who rely on their dinner not fighting back, so they’ve come up with a novel approach to cope with this problem.

Their venom has now evolved to sneak past the prey’s immune system and prevent its blood from clotting, as well as dilating blood vessels near the skin to keep its blood flowing. Even when a bat drinks from the same prey night after night, its defences are powerless against the venom.

It’s this ability of the venom to act as a clot-buster and vasodilator that has scientists excited, because it means that they don’t have to work on new treatments from scratch. Much of the hard work in creating a natural blood pressure medicine has already been done for them by mother nature.

Now all they have to do is isolate the chemicals and understand the precise mechanisms that vampire bats use to bust blood clots and they’ll be knocking on the door of a breakthrough!

But you don’t have to wait for them to think their way through that set of bio-chemical problems. You can reduce your high blood pressure naturally, right now. These 3 easy exercises are proven to lower blood pressure below 120/80 without drugs, as soon as on the very first day…

Reduce Your High Blood Pressure Naturally, Right Now – Want to Lower Blood Pressure by 40%? Try kindness!

We’ve all heard the usual advice about lowering blood pressure. Get plenty of sleep, try not to stress, eat right and get some exercise.

But now there’s another way to combat high blood pressure that doesn’t involve any of those things.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University discovered this simple answer when they looked at more than 1000 healthy adults over the course of four years. They found that one subset of this large group was getting a great deal of benefit out of something enjoyable that they were doing.

The researchers noticed that the people who spent more than 200 hours during those four years as volunteers in their community were much less likely to suffer from high blood pressure than those who didn’t. In fact, they were over 40% less likely.

Researchers put this reduction in blood pressure down to the well-documented benefits of social interaction. It’s long been known that when we do things that are ‘bigger’ than ourselves, things which benefit others, we feel a tremendous sense of belonging and accomplishment.

In today’s world, more people than ever feel connected digitally but not necessarily physically. Loneliness is on the increase, but volunteering brings people back in touch with each other, makes them feel worthwhile and rewards them with mood enhancing hormones too.

And if you want to boost these benefits even further to reduce your high blood pressure naturally, right now, here are 3 simple exercises guaranteed to lower your blood pressure to 120/80 or less by this time tomorrow

Reduce Your High Blood Pressure Naturally, Right Now – High Blood Pressure and the ‘S’ Word

When it comes to high blood pressure, researchers from England and Finland think they can now point to the main culprit.

They cast their nets wide, with their study looking at 7000 people for clues about the main drivers of this damaging condition.

Thanks to information gleaned from studying so many subjects, they were able to pin the main cause on one familiar suspect, and not only that, they could confidently recommend an easy way to deal with it too.

The ‘S’ word behind high blood pressure here is stress, which is almost unsurprising because of the way that it exacerbates or encourages so many other conditions.

Plenty of people will tell you that they don’t feel stressed, but this research digs into decades of findings to show that everybody suffers some degree of stress of one sort or another.

Even the things that you happily take in your stride everyday count as stress. Whether it’s work worries, relationship difficulties, physical illness, environmental noise or poor dietary choices, they all add up to pressures which the body can’t resolve, and which quietly build up.

The result of this constant overload is disease in mind and body. When the body can’t cope with the load it eventually breaks down.

This landmark study appears in the European Heart Journal, and it underlines the need for greater stress awareness. As modern lives become more complicated we face a mountain of stressful challenges that pile up on a daily basis.

People with the highest stress levels are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack as those with the lowest.

If you’re wondering whether this study might have missed other contributing factors, don’t worry. They studied their subjects for several years and took into account things that also have a health impact like alcohol or smoking.

The researchers were surprised to find that people with high stress levels were not oblivious, but they often didn’t help themselves. They knew what was happening to them and they knew it was affecting their health, but they didn’t use the proven therapies that have been shown to help.

Which is a huge shame, because they could easily be cutting stress out of their lives using nothing more than some simple relaxation and mind-body awareness techniques. They could get their blood pressure down to 120/80 in 24 hours.

Control Your High Blood Pressure Naturally – Cheap Supplement Ditches 8 Points off Blood Pressure and Clears 5 Pounds of Fat

One of the reasons why Type-2 diabetes is so bad is because of the company it keeps.

High blood pressure goes hand-in-hand with it, so if your doctor discovers that you have Type-2 diabetes you can expect to get an ear-full about controlling your blood pressure too.

That’s always going to require a lifestyle change, but you’ll be pleased to know that there is a supplement which can help because it really punches above its weight in this regard as well.

Research by Loyola University in Chicago has shone light for the first time on the benefits of this super-cheap supplement for Type-2 diabetes sufferers.

In their study, it didn’t just lower participant’s blood pressure, it also helped them shed pounds of body fat, and they didn’t even have to reach for the running shoes.

The researchers selected people with low levels of vitamin D and studied their response to supplements over the course of 6 months.

The results were very welcome. They experienced better moods and relief from depressive symptoms, along with systolic blood pressure that was nearly 8 points better on average.

The extra Vitamin D also helped them to shed about 3 to 5 pounds, despite no other changes to their diets or activity levels.

Supplement levels were high, 7,000 IUs every day for six months.

Doctors say that taking large amounts of fat-soluble vitamins like this can be hard work for the liver, but there’s a growing chorus of vitamin D apologists who say that the current recommendations by the USRDA for vitamin D are too low (600-800 IUs a day right now).

They also point out that in direct sunlight during summer your body can produce up to 25,000 IU of vitamin D in slightly less time than it takes for your skin to start burning! That’s a lot of vitamin D that doesn’t seem to be harming the livers of people in sunny countries.

If you live in the West and you eat a typical Western diet, then there is a good chance that you will be deficient in many common nutrients, but before you start popping fistfuls of these sunshine pills, it’s probably best to have your vitamin D levels tested first.

You can also fix type 2 diabetes with this easy 3-step approach…

And you can eliminate high blood pressure completely by using these three simple blood pressure exercises to control your high blood pressure naturally…

Control Your High Blood Pressure Naturally – The Thorn That Sticks it to High Blood Pressure

Thorns are usually associated with hurting rather than healing, but a near neighbour to the common Tea Rose looks set to have its hidden health properties gain wider attention.

It’s a potent herbal remedy that you might have growing in your own garden, and it’s great at lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.

It’s almost embarrassing that science is only just catching up with what herbalists have known for such a long time: the hawthorn bush is like a hospital growing in your back yard. Its leaves, berries, and bark have been used to help a whole host of health conditions for generations.

Researchers at the University of Maryland Medical Center have recently taken notice and decided to explore these claims.

The hawthorn is a shrub that likes the sun, and it is found right across the world.

Just like the rose it has blooms, but it also has berries that show up after the blooms drop off at the start of June.

Research has shown that the berries are very potent antioxidants which is why they often find their way into health supplements.

It’s also been confirmed that the hawthorn contains vasodilators, substances which widen blood vessels. We know that high blood pressure hardens arteries and high cholesterol deposits plaque that narrows them, so vasodilators are great at improving blood flow for people with these problems.

Hawthorn extracts were also found to naturally clean up the dangerous LDL cholesterol that can stick to arterial walls, too, so all in all it packs a potent punch for health.

Hawthorn is great, but there are other powerful ways to reduce your blood pressure as well. These 3 simple exercises can send your blood pressure down to a heart-healthy 120/80. Take a look at this step-by-step approach to control your high blood pressure naturally, that’s already helping thousands of others…

Control Your High Blood Pressure Naturally – Your Phone Is Like a TV Remote for High Blood Pressure

When we say “Your phone is like a TV remote for high blood pressure
we don’t mean there’s an app for that.

And we don’t mean you can point your phone at people and make their blood pressure soar either, but we do mean it does do something nearly as bad to you.

Italian researchers at Guglielmo da Saliceto hospital in Piacenza already knew that cell phone ownership comes with a few potential health warnings, but their recent study confirmed something new.

In the study, they sat the subjects in a comfortable doctor’s office, so they were nice and relaxed and took blood pressure readings from them with an automatic device. In all, they tested 49 women whose average age was 53. All of them suffered from high blood pressure and were taking blood pressure lowering medications.

Each subject had their blood pressure measured a few times, and while this was happening, one of the researchers would anonymously call their phone a few times. Every call caused a spike in the subject’s systolic blood pressure, and it stayed elevated for a while after. Diastolic blood pressure was not affected.

Some people think that the radio frequencies generated by cell phones can cause this kind of thing, but the researchers believe it has got more to do with just the noise. When a phone goes off, we feel the urgent need to answer it. It interrupts our train of thought and demands our attention, almost like a crying child.

The researchers noticed that it was the older participants who showed the biggest spikes in blood pressure, and these were the ones who usually received fewer than 30 notifications day.

Maybe this is because younger people rely on their phones so much. So, they felt more relaxed about receiving notifications than the older people in the study.

There are a couple of takeaways from this study. The first one is to put your phone on silent when you go for a blood pressure test with your doctor, as it may skew the results. The second is to think about living without your phone from time to time, switching it off, particularly if it’s something that causes you anxiety.

We’ve come to rely on phones in the last few years, but we’re only just beginning to understand the health implications of that.

Drop Your Blood Pressure Naturally – 7 Deadly Sins of Food for High Blood Pressure

You don’t need us to tell you that high blood pressure is bad news. It’s common knowledge, but do you know what you should be doing about it?

There’s a ton of research out there which tells us what to eat and what to avoid to keep our blood pressure healthy, but it can often be hard to find among all the ‘noise’ that exists.

Ads and articles for diet fads and superfoods are often ‘here today and gone tomorrow’. There’s a constant churn of information in the advice industry that’s often there just to get attention.

If you can manage to keep these things out of your mouth (especially if you have high blood pressure) you’ll be well on your way to getting a healthier cardiovascular system.

1- Alcohol – Ever had a friend tell you that one glass of wine is good for you, then look on in disbelief as they fill a glass for you that almost holds the entire bottle? Friends like that are great, but a large global study published in UK medical journal, The Lancet has confirmed that actually, there is no safe level of alcohol consumption.

Sure, we’ve all heard stories of people who drank booze every day of their lives and still lived to be a hundred years old, but most people aren’t that lucky. They’re more likely to wind up with serious diseases, and high blood pressure is just one of the ones on the list.

Alcohol is the most popular drug on Earth, but for the sake of your health, avoid it if you possibly can. We know it can be lovely stuff—in the moment—but sooner or later you’ll always pay a price for the good times that it brings.

2- Frozen foods- Freezing freshly-picked vegetables is perfectly okay, and if that’s all supermarkets were packing in their freezer aisles then you’d be fine. A bag full of rock-solid veg is a great buy for your body, but you’ll want to avoid the less innocent packages that also lurk in the cabinets—if you know what’s good for you.

There are plenty of pre-prepared meals laced with salt, sugar and a laundry list of chemicals which masquerade as food, so with some of them you might be better off eating the package they came in instead of food!

You’d like to think that they’re simply good food that’s been frozen at the perfect moment, but they’re often sullied with preservatives and flavorings straight out of the laboratory. So, check the label before you put anything in your shopping cart.

3- Canned foods- In 1974, canned foods were recovered from the wreck of the Bertrand, a steamboat which went down in the Missouri river in 1895. When cans were opened the contents may not have smelled or tasted great, but after 109 years, analysts couldn’t find a single microbe growing inside them. Even after all that time, the food was still edible!

Canned food is convenient, cheap, and it lasts a long time, but the foods themselves are often processed before they’re sealed into their airtight containers, which means many of them come with a heavy dose of salt and sugar.

If you do have to eat from a can then you can make it a healthier experience by washing the contents thoroughly, as most of the sodium content is dissolved in the water.

4- Prepared “Mediterranean” foods- When you hear the word ‘Mediterranean diet’ you probably think of sun-kissed vineyards, lush salads, fresh fish and fine cheeses. And that’s what manufacturers want you to think.

It’s a label that helps them sell frozen, canned, boxed and freeze-dried foods that come loaded with extra chemicals, sodium, and sugar and which have also had the vitamins and other nutrients cooked out of them.

‘Always check the label’ if you can, but if you can’t then just avoid the stuff altogether, just to be on the safe side.

5- Instant foods and food additives- Oatmeal wasn’t born ‘instant’. It gets that way because it’s rolled and flattened between cylinders, pre-cooked, sweetened and flavored. In other words, it’s processed to within an inch of its nutritional life and then packaged to look as if it’s natural and good for you.

Many other foods suffer a similar fate, so any time you see the word “quick” in the title, be on your guard. Be suspicious of food additives like stock cubes and sauces that can sit in your fridge or cupboard ‘forever’ without going off. They usually come with extra sodium that should be avoided if you have hypertension.

6- Carbonated soft drinks- Many people consume canned and bottled sodas without a second thought. They’re almost everywhere you look, in vending machines, offered as part of ‘meal’ deals at fast-food outlets and they take up entire aisles in the grocery store. They’re also cheap, so it’s no wonder they’re popular, but they’re also drinkable junk food that can harm your health.

A can of something like Sprite or Coke contains eight teaspoons, or 33g of sugar, which is ludicrous! Far better to drink water, which is what your body was designed for. But drink these all day and the sodium content (14.7mg) will help to dehydrate you as well as play havoc with your blood pressure.

Switching to diet soft drinks may seem like the healthy alternative, but they often contain aspartame, sucralose and other artificial sweeteners too, substances that have been shown to cause weight gain (how ironic!), diabetes and more. Your high blood pressure will not thank you for indulging in fizzy pop.

7- “Energy” Drinks- You can think of these as the ‘evil twins’ of regular carbonated drinks (which are pretty evil to begin with). Manufacturers throw everything they can think of into energy drinks; caffeine, sugar, taurine, aspartame, and more.

Some people have suffered from heart failure drinking these chemical cocktails in a can, while others experience symptoms of addiction and suffer from anxiety, agitation and sleep disturbances from drinking them.

Energy drinks can’t really give you energy. They can only give you the illusion of energy, a false sensation that comes from sugar and adrenaline spikes that always end in a slump and the desire for more.

The big lie is that these denatured substances are food. They’re pseudo-foods that taste nice and last a long time, but beyond this they have little to offer the body and are often harmful.

If you want to experience how much of a hold they can have on you then try doing without them for a few days and see if you don’t feel like an addict suffering from withdrawal!

Real food shouldn’t do this to you. It should leave you feeling level, calm, and satisfied. Stick to foods that really are foods, that haven’t been altered, added to, or taken away from, and see how much better you feel.

Even if you can’t follow all of the suggestions here there’s still a natural way to lower your blood pressure without changing what you eat. Discover how these 3 simple exercises drop your blood pressure naturally to 120/80 in just 9 minutes…

Drop Your Blood Pressure Naturally (This Study Proves You Can)

All doctors will tell you that this one aspect of your lifestyle is the key to reducing your high blood pressure, but most people still neglect it because they find it hard to stay disciplined.

But it’s so important that a study in the journal Hypertension has shown how practicing it is the key to not just keeping blood pressure down but avoiding strokes and heart attacks too.

In the study, researchers looked at information gleaned from 4000 women with experience of gestational diabetes. They were particularly interested in what the women ate, and the data spanned 18.5 years.

They compared their eating habits to three healthy diets: The Alternative Eating Index, the Mediterranean-style diet, and the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH.)

The results were not too surprising. Subjects who ate in line with these diets were 20 to 30 percent less likely to develop high blood pressure, compared to those who were less careful about what they ate.

They benefited as much from these diets as people who did not have gestational diabetes, which is a great takeaway from the study, because it proves that even people who already have a certain illness can benefit from healthier eating.

Those who ate what they liked had higher blood pressure because they carried more body fat.

So, what was so good about these diets? The major features that made them healthy are the kinds of things that anyone giving you good advice will tell you to eat: whole grains, legumes (pulses), fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fish. Little or no added sugar and salt, no red meat, processed meat, and processed grains. You basically avoid anything that is processed.

Although this kind of advice will certainly help you if you already have high blood pressure, you still may need to do more.

And you can eliminate high blood pressure completely by using these three simple blood pressure exercises to drop your blood pressure naturally…

Drop Your Blood Pressure Naturally – It’s Bad, but it Lowers Your Blood Pressure

It’s not often that something can be good and bad for you at the same time, but researchers at the University of Edinburgh have found something that’s just that. Something that can lower your blood pressure but will have doctors jumping up and down.

Scientists were looking for a way to treat some of the nutritional deficiencies that can boost blood pressure to unsafe levels, when they stumbled upon some fantastic benefits of what every health professional will warn you away from.

Tanning beds increase your risk of developing melanoma by 75%, but amazingly, the UV light in this “fake sunshine” was found to be great at reducing high blood pressure too.

The study saw volunteers receive the light therapy on two occasions. One time they got bright, warm lights, the next they were exposed to UVA.

Researchers discovered that diastolic (second number) blood pressure dropped by an average of 2 to 5 mm/Hg after they’d been bathed in UVA light.

And the effects lasted too. After one-hour, diastolic pressure still hadn’t increased, so something was definitely happening, but what was the cause?

One theory was that UVA light might have done what sunshine does, and increased their vitamin D levels, but this wasn’t the case.

So, why was diastolic blood pressure dropping so significantly then?

It turned out to be down to lower nitrate levels in the skin. These are some of the most harmful free radicals, and they’re present in certain foods and can be breathed in from smog.

The fact that tanning beds cut down on these horribly destructive substances is great news, but the fact that they’re tanning beds is not.

So, while it’s really interesting what this research has thrown up, please don’t reach for the tanning goggles just yet if you want to save the skin, you’re in. There are much safer and healthier ways to reduce your blood pressure.

Take Control of Your High Blood Pressure – Three-Minute Test Could Save Your Life

Your home blood pressure monitor could be even more useful than you thought. You already know that keeping track of your blood pressure is important, but this recent discovery takes it one step further.

It can predict with startling accuracy your chances of suffering a stroke or heart attack.

Even when doctors take your blood pressure, most haven’t heard about this recently discovered approach.

Researchers at the University of Exeter published a comprehensive study about how inaccurate single-arm blood pressure tests are. It appeared in the British Journal of General Practice.

From 1998 to 2008 they looked at 3,350 Scottish men and women aged from 50 to 75. Everyone in the study was judged to be at risk of developing high blood pressure, but none of them had a formal diagnosis yet.

Blood pressure tests using both arms were conducted only at the start of the study. The researchers then monitored them to see which of the participants went on to develop cardiovascular disease.

They were interested to find that when there was a difference in systolic readings between the two arms of five mmHg or more, those individuals were nearly twice as likely to die from a heart-related illness.

It gets worse though…

An eye-opening 60% of people in the study showed this five-mmHg difference between arms, and for 38% the difference was 10 mmHg.

But why are these readings different anyway?

It’s true that blood pressure readings can be different according to whether you’re at the doctor’s office or in your own home. The reason for that is simply anxiety. People naturally get a little bit more uptight when they’re sitting in front of the doctor. But that doesn’t explain why using different arms should make a difference. They’re both still attached to the same heart, right?

The answer lies in blocked blood vessels. In the arm with the higher reading it’s a common cause, and it’s one that points to a potentially serious risk.

It could be that plaque has built up in one arm, or it might have built up throughout the body, and the arm with a lower reading might have the least plaque. That’s obviously the worst-case scenario, but neither of them is exactly good news.

And this isn’t new thinking. In the March 2014 edition of the American Journal of Medicine, they ran a study produced by Harvard researchers. The team took blood pressure readings from 3,400 subjects and looked for problems over 14 years, in much the same way as the Exeter researchers.

10% showed an inter-arm difference of 10 or more mmHg, and these people were 38% more likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke than those with lower differences.

So, the takeaway here is, ask your doctor for a double-arm test. You could casually quote both of the above studies when they ask you why, and maybe earn yourself an astonished look and new respect.

Or, as we suggested at the start, just do it yourself. Test the blood pressure on both of your arms. If you see an average difference of 5 points or more in your systolic blood pressure readings (the first number) then act now. It might save your life.

Take Control of Your High Blood Pressure – Common Meds that Spike Your Blood Pressure

Pain is a known cause of high blood pressure. The body responds to long-term pain the same way that it responds to sudden injury: it raises your blood pressure.

So, it doesn’t help when the meds you’re taking for the pain cause your blood pressure to spike as well.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs like ibuprofen are known antagonists when it comes to blood pressure. And it doesn’t help that they’re so common that people think they are virtually harmless. It’s like, when you can pick something up in the grocery store, it has to be safe, right?

Sure, they’re great for reducing fevers and combating mild pain for most people, but recent research has highlighted the way that these widely used medications can lead to alarming spikes in blood pressure too. And prescription medications like Celebrex are no better. They can also potentially do the same thing.

Non-NSAID alternatives are available, but they come with their own difficulties when taken in large quantities.

Acetaminophen, can cause death at a dosage of just 4,000 mg, and liver damage even at lower do.

When you absolutely have to take something to cope with pain, it’s far better to look towards natural remedies.

Take Control of Your High Blood Pressure – 15 Points off your blood pressure score – easy!

High blood pressure needn’t be hard work. You may think you need to follow a restrictive diet that leaves you miserable and hungry, or work yourself on a treadmill until you collapse in a pool of sweat. But a new study shows that you can leave all of that stuff to the masochists and still get the benefits.

There’s a much simpler way to get your blood pressure under control without making yourself miserable. In fact, it’s blissfully simple.

It’s something that you’re already doing, so doing it a little more and doing it more mindfully should be as easy as rolling off a log. And no, it’s nothing that you’re eating, so get ready, take a deep breath… It’s breathing.

Really? Yes, really. Breathing is something that we take for granted because it’s so automatic, but maybe that’s why we tend to overlook its importance.

It’s great at lowering blood pressure, but maybe not in the way you might think.

Dr. David Anderson is a researcher who works for the National Institute of Aging. To him and his colleagues, the science of breathing is like a breath of fresh air.

During one investigation he used a specialized device to train his subjects to slow down their breathing rates. And when he did, he was surprised at what he discovered.

Not only did slow breathing result in lower stress hormone levels among the study participants, it also helped to reduce the excess salt in their bodies as well. It’s well known that salt raises blood pressure, so it actually helped them to reduce two causes of high blood pressure in one go.

Another study by a different organization found that just 15 minutes a day of slow breathing exercises lopped up to an impressive 15 points off blood pressure scores for some individuals.

You can recreate these kinds of results without investing in any specialized device. We’ve based our blood pressure exercises on many of the principles that underpin this study. And we’ve made sure that they’re even more effective.

Reduce High Blood Pressure Naturally at Home – This Ancient Practice Beats Blood Pressure Meds

They can’t compete. Modern meds can often achieve good results in some areas, but when it comes to blood pressure reduction, there’s an ancient practice that’s fun, safe, and it leaves you feeling great, so without tablets, and without side effects, unless you count the overall feeling of calmness and serenity.

Researchers in Pennsylvania have added to the growing body of evidence in favor of yoga. They found that even light yoga practice lowers blood pressure like nothing else can, no prescription necessary.

They took a group of middle-aged men and women and split them into groups. One practiced yoga, one followed a special diet, and one did both.

The yoga-only group cut down their systolic blood pressure numbers, beating out those in the special diet group by an average of 3 points.

Those who combined the two approaches saw the best improvements of all, and lots of those taking part had their blood pressure drop by greater amounts than those using the most widely-used blood pressure meds—only without the unwanted side-effects.

We’ve based our simple blood pressure exercises on some aspects of the yoga philosophy, but the movements are nowhere near as taxing. That means you can benefit from them even if you aren’t in your best shape at the moment.

And you don’t even need to learn anything. No movements to remember and no names to learn. Just follow along with the audio. It couldn’t be simpler.

But our approach is even more powerful than yoga. Our blood pressure exercises help most people banish high blood pressure in just one week. Some even see results on day one. Check out our blood pressure exercises here. Afterwards you’ll wish you’d discovered us long ago.

Reduce High Blood Pressure Naturally at Home – See What High Blood Pressure Makes You Crave…

If you’re like most people with high blood pressure, you’ll find yourself being a lot more conscious about what you put in your mouth, but what if your mind tries to talk you into doing something that’s bad for you?

Some heavier people blame their weight gain on a sweet tooth, but for those folks with high blood pressure, there’s another craving that’s working just as hard to undo their best efforts.

Maybe you suffer from this craving too? It’s one that researchers in Sao Paulo, Brazil identified in a series of experiments. They gave bread with varying amounts of salt to their test subjects, and Lo and behold, it was the people with high blood pressure who always reached for the saltiest slices.

Thanks to this observation, they began to question what was happening here. Could it be that people with hypertension were prone to crave the very thing that makes their problem worse? It seemed so, and it wasn’t just about the taste either. They found that low- or no- sodium alternatives didn’t have the same effect on their subjects. It was the sodium that their bodies seem to yearn for.

But what could the reason be? There’s been speculation that it might be stress-related, because people under the most stress (of any kind) crave the most salt. And salt-based snacks are well known as being one of the most popular types of “comfort food” out there.

Stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline have many effects. And it’s not just about triggering the fight or flight response, because they can also change mood, energy levels, sense of smell and yes, our tastes too.

We suddenly need high-sugar and high-salt foods when stress grips us, ironically, the very opposite of what we should be reaching for.

It’s just another example of how stress and high blood pressure are linked. But what can you do about it?

Don’t despair! You can help yourself plenty by using these simple blood pressure exercises. They can reduce blood pressure and curb your stress hormone levels too. Follow this link to see how easy they are to follow

Reduce High Blood Pressure Naturally at Home – Worst Job for High Blood Pressure (Surprising)

The European Journal of Preventive Cardiology recently published a study demonstrating how people with many of the most common jobs were at an increased risk of a heart attack.

The results were especially scary for people who already had a pre-existing case of high blood pressure.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t jobs that required a long hour of sitting that were the most dangerous.

Instead, the scientists found that, when combined with high blood pressure, hard physical labor posed a serious heart attack risk.

To reach this conclusion, they analyzed the data of 12,093 female nurses, which was collected by the Danish Nurse Cohort Study from 1993 onward.

The nurses were between the ages of 45 and 64 when the data was taken.

They divided the nurses into three groups who reported their exertion levels to be either low, moderate or high. In addition, they divided them into groups with high or low blood pressure.

After 15 years, during which they continued to collect the nurse’s health information, this is what they found:

  • Nurses with normal blood pressure and high physical activity had five extra cases of heart diseases per 10,000 people per year over those with normal blood pressure and low physical activity.
  • Nurses with high blood pressure had 15 more cases of heart disease per 10,000 people per year than those with low or normal blood pressure.
  • Nurses with both high blood pressure and hard labor had 60 extra cases of heart disease per 10,000 people per year. Yes, that’s a 6% spike in heart attack risk if you work hard and have high blood pressure at the same time.

If you think about it, this is pretty alarming. High blood pressure alone is considered to be a serious risk factor for cardiovascular events.

That is why medical professionals, as well as this website, constantly stress the need to keep it under control.

But the high-risk would quadruple when you load a physically demanding job on top of hypertension.

This takes us to the four types of stress that cause high blood pressure and heart attack:

Emotional stress – such as divorce and loss of a loved one

Mental stress – such as negative thinking and worrying

Sensory stress – such as loud noise in your surrounding

Physical stress – as in the case of this study, was caused by hard physical work.

This stress accumulates over time. Also, one type of stress can lead to another. For example, if you exhaust yourself with work, it can lead to emotional stress and mental stress.

Get Your Blood Pressure Down – This Vegetable Heals High Blood Pressure In 24 Hours

Could one common vegetable possibly lower blood pressure significantly in just 24 hours?

What new vegetable discovery is responsible and why have you not heard of it?

You have. In fact, this vegetable has been around likely as long as there have been people.

Beetroot juice.

It’s been touted lately as a “super” food and practically a cure-all vegetable; however, it’s not just “lately” that this vegetable has been around.

It’s been documented that beetroot juice was used in Roman times to treat everything from fever to acne, and was also used as an aphrodisiac.

While I wouldn’t discount these properties based on all of my research into beetroot juice benefits, my focus is on its effect pertaining to blood pressure.

For some time, we’ve known that this juice could lower blood pressure, but in 2010, researchers of a British study discovered that nitrate is the ingredient in the juice that is responsible for lowering blood pressure.

In this study, participants were divided into 3 groups and given beetroot juice, nitrate pills, and a placebo, respectively.

Those on the juice and nitrate pills had a significant blood pressure reduction within less than 24 hours, as compared to the placebo group.

Given that many individuals with high blood pressure can end up on multiple medications, beetroot juice is a great option. Just be aware that beetroot juice can have a burning effect on the throat on its own. If you want to avoid that, mix it with a carrot/apple juice combination.

Unfortunately, beetroot juice is also a “love it” or “hate it” type of drink. Some people just can’t drink it, no matter how healthy it may be.

However, there is an even simpler and more effective way found in these 3 easy blood pressure exercises to get your blood pressure down – they are guaranteed to drop your blood pressure below 120/80 from as soon as today…

Get Your Blood Pressure Down – High Blood Pressure and Dementia Connection Explained

The journal Stroke has just published a study on the connection between high blood pressure and dementia, which was conducted by a team of scientists led by the UC Davis School of Medicine.

Not only does this connection give us a way to detect dementia 20-30 years before it strikes, it (more importantly) also leads us to find a solid cure for both high blood pressure and an early onset of memory loss and dementia.

To be precise, the study traced the connection from lifestyle, to high blood pressure, to atherosclerosis, to a decrease in brain matter.

For data, they used health statistics from approximately 1,900 people whose information was collected by the Framingham Heart Study.

They considered three important test scores:

– an arterial tonometry measurement of blood pressure

– a carotid femoral pulse wave velocity measurement of artery hardening (atherosclerosis)

– an MRI brain scan as a measurement of brain volume and structure.

They found that when compared to people with normal arterial structure, those with hardened arteries had higher blood pressure, less white brain matter, and structurally damaged grey brain matter.

Using this data, the researchers speculated the following connection:

  1. Lifestyle factors like high cholesterol diets and a lack of exercise caused both high blood pressure and a buildup of plaque in your arteries.

  1. This will cause your arteries to harden or stiffen.

  1. Stiff arteries further increase blood pressure, because your heart must pump a lot harder to get blood through these inflexible plaque-clogged arteries.

  1. Together, all this arterial damage restricts the blood flow to your organs, including your brain.

  1. Insufficient blood flow to the brain then causes atrophy in the white and grey matter.

This shows us that lowering blood pressure and improving cardiovascular health is essential to our cognitive function further down the road.

This gives you one more reason to do everything in your power to lower your blood pressure. The most effective method to get your blood pressure down lies in the simple blood pressure exercises that can be found here…

But an interesting aspect for me is that this is further proof of the main underlying cause of Alzheimer’s and Dementia – a cause that I’ve been preaching for years now.

I’m talking about lack of oxygen-filled blood to the brain.

And for that cause, I discovered a simple set of exercises that load your brain with oxygen and nutrition and could, therefore, reverse an early onset of memory loss, dementia – you can try these brain booster exercises for yourself here…

Get Your Blood Pressure Down – Drop Your Blood Pressure 11 Points in 3 Hours

A new research study conducted by the scientists of Queen Mary College at the University of London has recently published an article in Hypertension, the journal of the American Heart Association, which had astonishing results.

You see, there are certain types of vegetables that contain a natural chemical that lowers your blood pressure by 11 points in just 3-6 hours.

The study linking these vegetables to a decrease in blood pressure involved 15 people comprising of 8 women and 7 men; all of whom suffered from systolic high blood pressure ranging from 140 to 159mm Hg. Participants were not suffering from complications as a result of their condition, nor were they on blood pressure medications.

After drinking a glass of nitrate-containing water or beetroot juice, the participant’s blood pressure was taken, and the results were astounding – a whopping 11.2 mmHg decrease on average. The biggest drop in blood pressure was measured after 3-6 hours, but it was still significantly lower than the baseline when it was tested again after 24 hours.

Since the overall point of the study was to determine whether optimal choices in diet and lifestyle could indeed affect blood pressure levels, the hypothesis was correct as the answer was an emphatic and resounding “yes!”

The amount of nitrate used in the study was equal to consuming either two beets or a bowl of lettuce. This shows that just ONE meal that was high in nitrate is enough to lower your blood pressure throughout the day.

Remember, when it comes to high nitrate foods, you aren’t limited to beetroot; you can also add carrots, fennel, lettuce, radishes, cabbage, spinach or green beans to your meals for the same results. It seems that variety is not only the spice of life; it might actually prolong it!

Lower Blood Pressure in Minutes – This No-No-Food Beats Blood Pressure Drugs

Many foods that were on the “do not eat” list a few years ago have been researched more- only to find out we should have been eating them all along.

One such food in particular has been recently found to reduce high blood pressure by as much as taking a dose of the leading blood pressure drug, and it’s likely sitting in your fridge right now.

Using hypertensive rats, the researchers isolated a chemical found in egg whites called RVPSL.

Even after heat-treating the chemical, as would be found when cooking egg white, researchers found that the rat’s blood pressure came down as much as it would after receiving a single dose of most popular ACE-Inhibitor blood pressure drugs.

While the researchers acknowledge that more studies would need to be done to see its benefits in humans, they were encouraged to see that the natural compounds in egg whites can be used in concert with other treatments to find effective, safer treatment for hypertension.

However, what is even more powerful than egg-whites would be the 3 easy blood pressure exercises to lower blood pressure in minutes found here, and these are guaranteed to bring your blood pressure below 120/80 – starting today…

Lower Blood Pressure in Minutes – Yummy Fruit Heals Genetic High Blood Pressure

Most people would agree that if they’ve been eating unhealthily, not exercising or under a lot of stress, their high blood pressure could be healed with lifestyle changes.

But what if your high blood pressure is genetic?

A new study revealed that one common fruit can actually alter the gene function in your heart to lower your blood pressure naturally.

Best of all: It’s very tasty and can be found in all supermarkets.

Researchers have long been aware of the benefits of grapes. Respected experts, such as Dr. Mark Hyman, have even called it the “mother of all antioxidants.” But now it seems that the fruit is even better than was initially thought.

A recent study published by the University of Michigan showed that grapes work to promote an increase in glutathione levels within the heart – an antioxidant that fights against heart disease that is specifically linked to high blood pressure.

The scientists fed rats an extremely high-fat diet. Then they supplemented them with a large amount of powdered grape.

The results were outstanding. The grape powder actually prevented the hearts of the rats from becoming enlarged and the arteries from hardening, an occurrence that usually happens with humans and animals on a high-fat diet.

Once the scientists were aware of the positive benefits of grapes, they went on to conduct a further study.

Now they fed the grape-rich diet to rats that suffered from hypertension. This new diet lasted for 18 weeks and the results were even more significant than those seen previously.

The grapes actually altered the very genes of the animals.

Furthermore, by altering the genes, the grapes boosted the antioxidant abilities of the cells in the heart, thus preventing it from stiffening and suffering under the ravages of high blood pressure.

This shows that even genetic high blood pressure can be healed naturally.

But what is even more powerful than grapes are the 3 easy blood pressure exercises that can lower blood pressure in minutes, found here – guaranteed to bring your blood pressure below 120/80 – starting today…

Lower Blood Pressure in Minutes – Effortlessly Drop Blood Pressure 10 Points in 5 Minutes

Lowering blood pressure significantly with workout requires a lot of blood, sweat, and pain – which is why most people don’t do it.

For these same reasons, three new studies published in the FASEB Journal have been making waves, as they have proof of a simple, almost effortless exercise that is more effective than hours of aerobics or weight training.

Best of all, it only takes five minutes and you can do it anywhere.

In the 1970s and 1980s, medical professionals started using a method called inspiratory muscle strength training to wean people off respirators and to increase the lung capacity of people that had lung diseases.

This treatment required them to breathe through a hand-held device called an inspiratory muscle trainer, which provided resistance when they inhaled.

As such, the device is similar to the weights you use in weight resistance training to strengthen your muscles. The only difference is it just works on your inspiratory muscles.

In the first study, Colorado researchers split 13 volunteers, all with resting systolic blood pressure that was above 120 mmHg, into a real treatment group and a sham treatment group.

The real treatment group had to breathe through this device for six days a week for six weeks, taking 30 breaths per day. The device was set on 75 percent maximum inspiratory pressure.

The sham group was asked to do it for the same amount of time and number of breaths, but the device they used was a sham device that provided no resistance.

After six weeks, they found two important improvements in the treatment group.

  1. Their resting systolic blood pressure was considerably lower than that of the sham treatment group. This was just over 10 mmHg lower than prior to the study.

  1. Their large arteries functioned better by being better able to dilate in response to blood flow.

The scientists were thus pleasantly surprised, as a 10-mmHg blood pressure reduction is better than what any long aerobic exercise session can accomplish.

It is also better than what any single blood pressure drug can do.

In the second study, they asked 14 volunteers to run on a treadmill after the same six-week schedule of breathing, after dividing the volunteers into the same real and sham treatment groups.

After the study, the treatment group was found to be able to exercise longer, with less cardiorespiratory effort, and at a lower heart rate than the sham treatment group could.

The third study also used 14 volunteers divided into the same two groups, with the same breathing schedules for the same amount of time.

After six weeks, they again found a 10-mmHg resting systolic blood pressure reduction in the treatment group.

On top of that, the treatment group also showed some cognitive improvements, such as being able to process information faster and being able to remember better.

Interestingly, our simple blood pressure exercises are based on very similar techniques as the inspiratory muscle trainer. The only difference? We do not need a machine.

Lower Blood Pressure Fast and Naturally – 6 Serious Impacts of High Blood Pressure (#4 will surprise you)

High blood pressure has been identified by the World Health Organization as the deadliest but most preventable epidemic in all of history.

The results of untreated, long-term high blood pressure can be catastrophic, even if the elevation wasn’t very high or what would normally be considered to be a medical emergency.

Some effects are obvious (such as a stroke and heart attack), while others may have bothered you for years without you realizing it was high blood pressure that caused them.

Here are the six examples:

#1- Stroke/aneurism – high blood pressure weakens the arteries. Two things happen after that- either the vessel ruptures; causing blood to leak out into the brain as with a stroke, or the vessel herniates, bulging dangerously against brain tissue or even rupturing at a later point.

#2- Heart failure The constant assault that hypertension does to the blood vessels damages the tissue they are supposed to feed. In the heart, these damaged or enlarged tissues would be catastrophic.

#3- Dementia – Following the logic that everywhere your arteries lead to can be damaged if those arteries become weak and/or hardened, and thus limiting blood flow, it is easy to see how areas of the brain which cannot ever be repaired once damaged, can fall victim to cell death. A growing body of evidence has been showing that dementia– spectrum diseases are increasingly being linked to high blood pressure.

#4- Vision impairment – Even the tiniest of blood vessels, such as those that supply oxygen and nutrients to your eyes, will become damaged with the onset of high blood pressure. Every millimeter of the eye has a function in vision, and every millimeter depends upon a healthy blood flow. Studies are practically emerging every few months showing that many kinds of vision impairment can be found to be a result of hypertension.

#5- Erectile dysfunction Know what happens to the ‘man parts’ if the blood doesn’t flow effectively? They don’t work. Sure, there are drugs out there to help correct it temporarily, but they come with a litany of side effects – especially if you are already being treated for high blood pressure with other pharmaceuticals.

Instead of using pills, check out this natural way to eliminate Erectile Dysfunction, with no drugs- permanently…

#6- Bone loss – Many people wouldn’t consider this to be a life-threatening condition. But with bone loss comes the very dangerous problem of getting a fracture. People expect seniors to be at risk of falls or fractures because they are more fragile.

But many folks in their 50s and 60s who are hypertensive also are at a dangerous risk of having a fracture due to bone loss. And that’s dangerous, since this age group is still largely in the workforce.

This is especially risky for women going through their menopause. If you’re approaching or going through menopause, check this step-by-step guide out to make sure you come out healthy and strong…

The time to get your blood pressure under control is now – it doesn’t have to be hard or dangerous, as often the case with pills.

The easiest, most effective way to lower blood pressure fast and naturally is the use of simple blood pressure exercises. These exercises have been scientifically proven to drop blood pressure down to a normal level in as little as a day…

Lower Blood Pressure Fast and Naturally – The Best Exercises for High Blood Pressure (and the easiest too)

Finding the best exercise for lowering blood pressure might be a moving target. Especially when there are so many exercise plans hitting the consumer stream these days.

According to a new study published by the American Heart Association, one type of exercise has been proven to be the most effective at lowering blood pressure, and it’s one of the easiest too.

A meta-analysis of more than 90 trials was published by the American Heart Association, with researchers vetting the most effective exercises available.

Their findings were in part predictable- such as the fact that ANY exercise is better than no exercise in lowering blood pressure, both for people with hypertension and even for those without.

But other findings were not as predictable. The three types of exercises that were compared were shown to have interesting results.

Researchers looked at the effects of isometric exertion, dynamic aerobic, and dynamic resistance training on blood pressure levels.

– Isometric exertion exercises involved exerting a force on a non-moving object. An example would be the gripping exercises typically done in therapies after a stroke.

– Aerobic exercises are those that get the heart rate elevated, such as running, biking or swimming.

– Resistance exercises are slower but more weight intense, such as weightlifting or pull-ups.

Researchers found with the latter two, as the intensity increased, the effectiveness of lowering blood pressure is also increased.

However, the isometric exertion exercises were actually the most effective in a holistic lowering of blood pressure across all ages and race groups, and for both genders.

It might seem counterintuitive that sitting in a chair squeezing something would be more effective at lowering blood pressure than pumping iron or swimming every day, but in reality, the study has reinforced what natural health professionals have been saying for years- relaxation and elimination of stress are the key to lowering your blood pressure.

The blood pressure exercises I discovered years ago has helped thousands of people to bring their blood pressure down to a healthy level, and these are based somewhat on the same philosophy as the isometric exertion exercises in the study.

That being said if you want to lower blood pressure fast and naturally, our blood pressure exercises are even more powerful because many people manage to bring their blood pressure down to 120/80 on, he very first day. Lower Blood Pressure Fast and Naturally – High Blood Pressure Misdiagnosed By The Wrong Measurement

A controversial new study looking at Mayo Clinic patients has been recently published, and it looked at what challenges most people – including doctors – in understanding when and how to have one’s blood pressure measured.

This could mean that millions of people have been unnecessarily put on dangerous blood pressure medications, when in fact their blood pressure was completely healthy.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic looked at the medical histories of over 400 patients and found that having one’s blood pressure taken every time a patient sees the doctor could cause more damage than checking it once annually.

The reasons they cited included potential errors in over-diagnosis due to false positives, and that the staff was not following proper testing procedures and this thereby had the effects of “white coat syndrome.”

White coat syndrome happens when the blood pressure is temporarily elevated due to anxiety over simply having a doctor visit.

The researchers concluded that taking a patient’s blood pressure once per year (and then doing it properly) at the annual exam would eliminate the vast majority of false positives.

By extension, this would eliminate unnecessary follow-up tests or drug regiments.

Critics looking at the study results stated that the 7% error in finding actual hypertensive patients by screening only once annually was too big of an error margin and more frequent testing should be viewed as the safer route.

The battle underscores the need for frequent and properly conducted at-home screening. There is a growing body of evidence to suggest that home meters, when used at the recommended 3-times-per-day interval and in the proper way, are a much more accurate gauge in understanding how a patient is faring than measuring blood pressure in the stressful environment that is the doctor’s office.

The proper way includes making sure the person being tested is seated, has been at rest for at least 5 minutes prior to the test, and that the testing arm is supported. Both sides of the controversial study agree that this is not being done in the doctor’s office, which accounts for many of the errors.

Repeated studies have also revealed that natural methods are always the best to lower blood pressure.

Now the bigger question is: What to do if your blood pressure is actually too high?
